Recap of 2012....
Well I guess the last posting I did was back in April of last year...oops. I guess I haven't been in touch as much as I should be. Sorry. Anyway, since then I've done quite a bit dr myself and I can't believe I didn't post anything from my first NYC group show that was held back in June 7th of 2012 in Chelsea. I suppose as an artist it's the Mecca of showing. But let me say this: just because you've shown in NYC doesn't mean you are a successful artist. It just means that you've shown there that's all. That is definitely one important thing I realized for myself but it doesn't also mean that I wouldn't do it again after all I am an artist and that there are galleries and museums to be exposed to. I had fun on that trip and my brother Ramon even came out to support my endeavor there. Cool stuff. Also that summer I moved to a different studio with my friend Melissa Wagner to a different studio in the Mission called Active Space on 18th and Treat. I've been painting more since I moved in to studios rather than from home. Bothe good and bad I think for their own respective reasons. I'll post some new images somehow as I cannot do it on my iPhone currently. I know, odd right?!

A bicycle, blue coat, and some dead chickens
This painting I made last year in 2011 of an image from one of my junk slides transcribed onto canvas. A Chinese market scene where a man in a blue coat is purchasing produce with dead chickens on the back of his bicycle. Intriguing photo and composition but still remained/considered junk from the photographer. This is the one I will be showcasing to my group show in New York on June 7th of 2012. I am excited about this inaugural event in New York as this is going to eventually/hopefully open some doors for me. Hope to see you there....

Step 2
never before have I ever exposed on how my art is done. This is a glimpse of the "behind the curtain" on how my art gets it effect. Painted in sections sometimes starting on subjects then pushing the dimensions back as I end with the background last. this causes a very very slight discourse but can barely be noticed. A vibrating effect but still composed as I have discovered by accident.
Step 1
New Studio
Welcome to my new studio! After working at home for almost 7 years, I have moved to another art studio closer to my work in SOMA. Its a new chapter in my art career and hopefully Ill be able to produce some new and invigorating work. I moved in at the beginning of March so it doesn't seem like much yet but am already making some new pieces after a long hiatus while I have been raising my lovely, energetic, and funny daughter Setina.

This was a piece Stephen Goldman commissioned me to do for his living/dining room. He and I collaborated on the image, color scheme, subject, etc. Overall, I felt that we ended this mission both fairly happy. The size of this painting is about 68x42 (approx) oil on canvas. For pieces like this one, I usually build the frame myself if its not done for a location.
